When a transversal intersects two parallel lines, the corresponding angles so formed will be equal
Corresponding angles are the angles that are formed in matching corners or corresponding corners with the transversal when two parallel lines are intersected by any other line (i.e. the transversal).
Corresponding Angles Formed by Parallel Lines and Transversals
If a line or a transversal crosses any two given parallel lines, then the corresponding angles formed have equal measure. In the given figure, you can see, the two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal, which forms eight angles with the transversal. So, the angles formed by the first line with transversal have equal corresponding angles formed by the second line with the transversal.
Solution
Given
The two corresponding angles given are (2b+15)oand(3b−7)o
Find out
We have to determine the value of b
Solution
From above information we have learnt that
If the lines are parallel, the corresponding angles are equal
(2b+15)o=(3b−7)o
-b= -22
b=22º
Answer
The value of b is 22º
